Commissions can be undertaken either by a Gift Certificate method or a Formal Commission.
Gift Certificate Commissions
The Gift Certificate is purchased through PayPal and we send you a Gift Card which the person recieving the gift or the purchaser can cash with us.
These certificates are fixed price custom commissions, made at one of three sizes, painted in oils on canvas or in pastel/ charcoal on paper. The works are not framed so as to reduce postage cost and risks. Prices include packaging and postage. We paint from an image supplied by the purchaser and send the work once completed. Generally it takes four weeks to complete a work but this is dependent on our work load, sending may be delayed due to drying time).
Prices for Gift Certificate Commissions: this price does not include framing, it does cover postage but not insurance. Because of the low price on these commissions we do not refund but will adjust at additional cost.
- 41.5cm x 29.5cm on canvas mounted on board: $400
- 58cm x 41.5cm on canvas mounted on board: $900
- 75cm x 58cm on canvas mounted on board: $1100
Formal Commissions
To propose a Formal Commission simply send an email to commissions@upsidedowninsideout.com.au containing a description of the work you require. Specify:
- name the artist you want to carry out the commission.
- size you require.
- media (oil paint, soft pastel, charcoal are our current choices).
- describe the topic/ subject and if you want to give some back ground to how you want us to deal with the work. We are happy to take photos as reference but they do not have to be the exact topic you choose.
As a rough guide to cost we suggest average prices for the following size oil paintings on stretched canvas:
- 100cm x 100cm around $1700.
- 150cm x 150cm around $3000.
- 180cm x 150cm around $5000.
The gallery does not send art works until final payment is received. You will recieve progress reports with photos of the work, you are encouraged to ask for changes or corrections as the work progresses. Works can be returned and a refund can be arranged, but we hope that this would be in exceptional circumstances only, such as damage in transit etc.
