The Upside Down Inside Out Gallery is an online venue for participating in the art market with developing or emerging artists. The Gallery is located in Australia and at present represents Australian artists but is happy to consider representing artists from all other countries.

We represent artists that are setting out with the intention of developing as collectable artists.

For the collector the gallery offers an insight into developing artists work and enables discerning buyers to select well priced work that they determine is a valuable component of their collection. We offer sale, lease or commission approaches to purchasing art work.

The gallery also provides a custom made palette service. It is our intention to provide palettes that are ergonomically designed for day long use, as well as providing paint storage and mixing that match each artists work pattern.

The staff have recently returned from a tour of the Netherlands, Belgium, Northern and Central France and Finland where they interacted with galleries in Groningen, Arras, Honfleur, Pontivy, Quimper, Loches, Clamecy, Troyes, Meaux, Paris and Helsinki. Side trips to the Institute de Beaux Arts and many museums. They also experienced Queens Birthday in the Netherlands, Helsinki Week and a exhibition opening at the Varzy Musee.

The Upside Down Inside Out Gallery is the result of a lot of work in attempting to break through the barrier into the mainstream art market. The never ending view that work does not quite fit into the market space has convinced us that the current market structure for art is inadequate.

We have arrived at the web site concept, not because we want to avoid contact with people but rather because we can see that the breadth of market that is available through this means is far greater than single location galleries.

Our aim is to help those that really want to succeed in the field of painting and drawing. To be represented by our gallery an artist has to show a period of development by submitting samples of their early works through to current works in progress.

We are judgemental about what we will put on the site and will not place works that would place us in breach of the law for showing them. This approach to what we will represent is intended to achieve two aims. First to show that we do not support rebellious explicit kiddy art, largely because it is just boring to have to put up with what the next brat can think up to shock someone. Second because we are supportive of artists that consider their works as long term representations of their cultural environment and want to present newanced reflective views that can be interpreted by future generations.

For the collector we provide a documented provenance for each work and an up to date artists profile including a sample of previous works sold and pricing where available. This gives the work a solid start in terms of the art market.

Our group started out in 2005 to establish an art movement called New Symbolism. This movement was intended to gather together artists from a diverse set of cultures to evolve a new form of symbolic representation that would be universally understandable while avoiding a dominance of symbolism from any one cultural perspective. The movement was a flop due to our lack of capacity to undertake such a large project and the level of conflict (and tus distrust) that then existed between east and west. A good idea but doomed in light of world events.

After that experience we decided to reduce the scope of our art endevours to what we felt was achievable. The gallery is the result of much thought and planning, not to mention web site development.

The gallery is staffed by people with diverse backgrounds, ranging from business management, IT, printing, graphic arts and of course fine arts.
